About

The Dunston Report is an online political journal catering to policy wonks and political satirists alike.

Created and maintained by Daryel R. Dunston, The Dunston Report offers a fresh perspective on contentious political topics, while serving as a repository of information gathered specifically to keep its readers politically and socially informed.

As an avid writer and political commentator, Dunston prides himself on writing with clarity and brevity. Dunston’s knack for research is a nod to his alma mater, the University of Virginia, and his work is heavily influenced by his studies in political science, economics, national security, and public policy.

Dunston’s undergraduate thesis, CIA Drone Strikes Under International Law, recommended a shift in policy well before the Obama administration publicly acknowledged the existence of the drone program. The thesis raised concerns over the legality of combat operations conducted by the CIA, a civilian agency. Dunston argued the drone program should fall explicitly under the purview of the Department of Defense – a policy subsequently adopted by the Obama administration.

Dunston is currently a graduate student at The Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley.
